My Downshift

My name is Simon and this is the story of my journey on the downshifting path. According to the Oxford dictionary Downshift is a verb chiefly N. Amer. 1 change to a lower gear. 2 change to a less stressful lifestyle. That's what I am aiming for. After 20 years working in the City I seek a more fulfilled and balanced lifestyle for myself and family. That doesn't mean giving it all up ala Tom and Barbara Good, but I am making some changes, check out my first post, The Story So Far...

Monday 11th September 2006

Woke up with a blocked nose and muscle ache from the gardening we did at the weekend. I hope I get fitter by being around home more! Made our packed lunches and walked the girls to school. Got home and set about paiting the front garden fence. Two hours later I am really pleased with the outcome, looks new.

SJ texted asking me to re-format her C.V. Yep, she is looking for a new job. Spent the next half and hour putting it into decent shape and saving as PDF (documents look so much better when they have been PD effed). Emailed it over to her so hope it's okay.

Got the next week's dinners sorted and booked a slot for the tesco delivery...fantastic, never go to the supermarket. What it costs for delivery can be easily saved on researching the best deals online and not buying on impulse. Highly recommend it if you don't already do your groceries online.

Not much doing for the rest of the day, collected the girls from school, cooked dinner, took them to the video store to get a couple of DVDs and watched some TV whilst J was at yoga.

I'm on a halfday tomorrow as SJ is going to a fashion awards dinner in London and I need to be home for the girls. Only two and a half days at work this week...not sure how I'll cope!!
