My Downshift

My name is Simon and this is the story of my journey on the downshifting path. According to the Oxford dictionary Downshift is a verb chiefly N. Amer. 1 change to a lower gear. 2 change to a less stressful lifestyle. That's what I am aiming for. After 20 years working in the City I seek a more fulfilled and balanced lifestyle for myself and family. That doesn't mean giving it all up ala Tom and Barbara Good, but I am making some changes, check out my first post, The Story So Far...

Friday 13 October

Managed some good savings this month including: -

Switched gas and electricity using www.uswitch.com from Powergen to Atalantic - saving £10 per month
Switched from eSure to the Post Office for my car insurance, saving £60 per year. Used www.confused.com for that
Cancelled my basic cable TV package, bought an arieal and freeview box (www.ebay.co.uk and www.Amazon.co.uk), installed them and set it all up myself - saving £140 in the first year then £240 per year thereafter
Switched from www.Argos.com pet insurance to www.Tesco.com, saving 1p per month, but I got clubcard points!
Saved £50 on the cross trainer from www.ebay.co.uk

Keeping avid eye on www.moneysavingexpert.com for any new deals!
